Mladen Music-Ozmo was born in 1930 in Olovo (Sarajevo). Of Jewish Origin, at the age of 14, he fought in the ranks of the Yugoslavian, resistance against the Nazis. In Zagabria he studies Ethnology at the Faculty of Philosophy, while attending in contemporary two “atelier” of Yugoslavian professor Bacce, and Jovanovic. In 1953 he moves to Milan in Italy where he studies graphics and design and then goes on to work in advertising, publishing, cinema and television as an art director and designer.
His first one-man exhibition as a painter was held in the Galleria Bagutta, in Milan in 1858.
His works are subsequently shown in numerous other cities in Italy and Europe.
In 1990, during the Rumanian revolution, he is particularly struck by the spontaneous and collective gesture of demonstrators, who tore away the coat of arms of Ceausescu. He enters the hot-zone of the battle of Timisoara where he manages to got hold of 12 of the famous "flags with holes". Upon his return from Rumania, with the patronage of the Milan City Council, he immediately set up an exhibition, "12 Flags from Timisoara", stressing their importance on a semiotic level. Subsequently, deeply affected by the tragedy of the Ex-Yugoslavia, he paints a series of 43 large format canvasses using his hands instead of brushes to emphasize the horror and atrocities generated by the "slumber of reason".
Mladen Music-Ozmo lives and works in Itay, Milan-Crema (Gradella di Pandino).

Mladen Music-Ozmo e’ nato nel 1930 a Olovo (Sarajevo). Di origine ebraica, a 14 anni combatte nelle file della resistenza jugoslava contro I nazisti. A Zagabria studia etnologia alla Facolta’ di Filosofia e in contemporanea frequenta due “atelier” dei accademici jugoslavi Bacce e Jovanovic. Nel 1953 si trasferisce in Italia, a Milano, dove studia grafica e desing, lavorando poi in pubblicita’, nell’editoria, nel cinema e per la televisione come art-director e designer. La sua prima mostra personale come pittore e’ stata allestita alla Galleria Bagutta, in Milano, nel 1958. Le sue opere vengono successivamente esposte in numerose citta’ in Italia e in Europa. Nel 1990, durante la rivoluzione rumena, e’ particolarmente colpito dal gesto spontaneo e collettivo dei dimostranti che asportano, strappandolo, lo stemma di Ceausescu. Si reca nel vivo della battaglia di Timisoara dove riesce a impossessarsi di 12 della famose “bandiere col buco”. Al suo rientro dalla Romania allestisce, con il patrocinio del Comune di Milano, una mostra delle “12 bandiere di Timisoara”, sottolineando il loro importante valore sul piano semiotico. In seguito, profondamente toccato dalla tragedia della ex-Jugoslavia, dipinge una serie di 43 opere di grande formato usando le mani al posto dei pennelli, per enfatizzare l’orrore e le atrocita’ generate dal “sonno della ragione”. Mladen Music-Ozmo vive e lavora in Italia, Milano-Peschiera Borromeo.
